What not to Say in a Job interview

More on Georgevich

Don Georgevich an expert in behavioural dynamic interviewing made a YouTube video describing the top five things not to say during an interview.

In detail, he quickly went over different ways to go about obtaining a job a what to say specifically in the interview process.

His first thought being to "Never say you didn't like working at your old job". The main reason for this he said... and I'm quoting him here is being "called cancerous when doing so". In my experience I've never had a job I didn't like working at because it would've truly harmed my desire to work. Which is why Georgevich's at about 4 minutes makes so much sense to me. He says "Don't just get your foot in the door.'', when speaking about being too desperate just to get a job. Not realizing what you’re doing or signing up for. He says to go in there specifically and tell them what you want to show a level of responsibility and preparation. Also to not, in his third rule “tell them you are a quick leaner.” In context to not knowing how to do a task. When job hunting, he says you should speak on your experience especially in an interview. To show comfortability and familiarity in a work field. Fourth on his list of what not to say on a job interview comes “Don’t say I don’t know how”. This is in correlation with rule three because it talks about the importance of familiarity in a workplace. During an interview at McDonald’s, if I say I don’t know how to work the register, that goes a long way negatively for my image to the employer. But as Georgevich says “connect to something similar.”, highlighting the ability to connect with things you have done in other jobs to what you will be doing at your new job. Lastly, Georgevich speaks on the importance of knowing about your job even more. Saying to never say “What does your company do here”? This shows a level of preparation to be low on an employee if they don’t even know what the job does they are trying to be hired for. It is imperative to have information about what you’re doing.
