The college bodybuilder

The college bodybuilder, aka Justin Fleming is a 21-year old junior at S.C. State University. I’m our interview we spoke on Flemings love for fitness and body building.

While being a Community Assistant(CA) we spoke on his development of his tourney in campus. I asked him “Coming in to college, what was your passion live for fitness compared to where it is now?” He answered “It wasn’t as high as it is now, it was more so just something to do and have time last by.” “You know when you’re not really doing anything you’re bored.” Fleming on his feelings of fitness in his life.

He also spoke on his past athletic history playing football to what he describes, “ I played all around the field.” For his versatility on the field and with his body.

We also touched on the importance of eating and what you need to target when eating. Those being words like “protein” and “carbs and fats” for gaining good weight. Which stuck out to me in my own fitness journey.

Later on in the interview, we spoke about any influence an athlete or celebrity has had motivating Flemings journey.

He was quick to reply with his two answers “Saquan Barkley and Mark Wahlberg.” Justin also spoke on his favorite workout to do while in the gym which he says is his “chest”.

I touched on when Justin decided to make lifting a daily routine. He answered with his past history with football and how the practice schedule during the season gave him a routine and he just kept following it after high school. “I wanna say after graduation and my freshman year of college because that’s when I saw the changes that occurred. I wondered how I would look if I actually tried.” He also touched on his use of creatine and protein powder.

My last question for Fleming was “Is there any piece of advice that you would give to someone starting their own workout journey?” “ A lot of people think when they come in the gym they’re going to be judge.” “Don’t worry nobody judging you.” He also added “ If you have the option to lift with somebody, don’t take it for granted, but make sure you’re actually working out and not playing around.” “It’s gonna push you to do better”. I thanked Justin Fleming for his time doing this interview and the recording is below to hear
